The new Weir Bridge opened to traffic

The new dual-lane bridge over Cockle Creek at Barnsley has opened today, replacing the old single-lane weir crossing which is ironically under floodwater today. The bridge better connects Teralba with Barnsley and includes a 3m-wide pathway which will be great for pedestrians and cyclists once connecting paths are completed. The $8.6m project was jointly funded by the Federal Government and Lake Macquarie City Council which has done a fantastic job in constructing it. My thanks to all concerned.
