¿ Just a quick update on the EPA's investigation into the fish kills at Mannering Bay.
¿ Firstly, the investigation is still under way but the EPA has asked anglers and boaters to be aware of a custom-built buoy which has been placed at Wyee Point.
¿ The buoy is able to provide real-time data on things such as salinity, turbidity, oxygen levels, temperature and pH levels in that part of the lake. This will help the EPA spot an issue immediately and hopefully protect marine life from any impacts.
¿ The EPA is currently making arrangements so the buoy's data can be made publicly available on their website in real time.
¿ The buoy will remain in place for six months. It looks like a traditional buoy and uses pumps to sample water from different depths through a range of sensors, so please be aware of it and don't go near it if you're in that vicinity.
