Clubs share $50,000 in local sport grants

Best part of my job - getting grants and financial assistance for our many local sporting, community and cultural groups.

Today it's local sports grants and we've been able to secure seven of them under the Government's Local Sport Grants Program, worth about $50k.

I'm pictured breaking the news to a very happy Robert Punton at Teralba Bowling Club which has secured $10,000 for some new shade sails.

Among the other recipients are:

- Cardiff Rugby League Club, $8585 for a scoreboard upgrade;

- Lake Macquarie Rowing Club, $9000 for a women's quad scull;

- Lake Macquarie Dolphins Water Polo Club, $5000 for Speers Pt pool enhancement;

- Westlakes Archers Inc, $2870 for target buttresses at Fassifern Oval;

- Speers Point Amateur Sailing Club, $5680 for junior program instructor development; and

- Lake Macquarie Australian Football Club; $8000 for ground realignment.
