The Heaven Can Wait Charity Sailing Regatta has raised desperately-needed funds for local life-saving and life-protecting organisations for 17 years.

I was pleased to join with Heaven Can Wait members earlier today, including founder Shaun Lewicki, Cancer Council Australia representative Sue Russell and Marine Rescue Lake Macquarie Headquarters & Operations Centre Deputy Unit Commander Kelly McNeil to present a combined $45,750 in donations.

$40,000 has gone to the Cancer Council to help Hunter-based cancer patients at home, while $5000 has gone to Marine Rescue to help fund their operations centre.

I take the opportunity each year to make a small personal donation, which this year was $500 to the Cancer Council and $250 to Marine Rescue. I know that all of those donations will be well used by both organisations.

Thank you also to the Royal Motor Yacht Club Toronto and Jeff Jansson for hosting us. Without your assistance none of this could happen.
