Teralba Bowling Club
17th October 2023
Mr GREG PIPER (Lake Macquarie)—I would like to congratulate Teralba Bowling Club on reaching a wonderful milestone, its 75th birthday. On the 4th October 1948 the club's inaugural members first met, for the purpose of forming a small, friendly community based bowling club. Three years later, in 1951 the first club singles were played, with guests entertained in a large marquee at the site. It was another year before the clubhouse was completed and I note that the club's first acting president was Harris Barnett. Since those early days the club has gone from strength to strength. The Teralba Bowling Club provides the community with so much more than just a physical venue for its members to play lawn bowls. It's also a place for people to meet and friendships to forge and grow. The club is located on Cockle Creek and is one of very few places offering boat access right to its door, and I have had the privilege of attending several award ceremonies there for the Teralba Fishing Club. We've lost so many small clubs over the years; it is heartening to see the ongoing success of Teralba Bowling Club. Congratulations again, on a remarkable 75 years.
