Mr GREG PIPER (Lake Macquarie)—Volunteers really are the lifeblood of our communities, without their tireless unwavering dedication many charities, organisations and institutions would fail to thrive. I would like to acknowledge the efforts of one of Lake Macquarie's true unsung heroes. Michele Taylor, who is an invaluable and long-standing member of Booragul Public School's P and C and currently serves as its treasurer. Michele volunteers her time at the school on a full-time basis, running its uniform shop, canteen and school fundraisers, as well as working behind the scenes on administrative tasks. She is always the first one to arrive at events like school discos and the last to leave. Michele goes above and beyond for the school community, giving so much and asking for nothing in return. She is a wonderful example to students and teaching staff alike. These efforts were recently recognised when she was presented with a Department of Education Regional North Performance Directorate Excellence Award. Congratulations on receiving this very well deserved award Michele, I thank you for all that you do for Booragul Public School.
