A little piece of Switzerland in Toronto
1st November 2023
A little piece of Switzerland has arrived in Toronto in the form of a Mondaine clock.
Kaylene Fitzpatrick from Kadia Jewellery has spent the past two years working on getting the licensing agreement in place to allow the store to be able to display the very special clock outdoors, for the benefit of our community.
Mondaine clocks are a licensed product for the Swiss train network, and this timepiece is one of the first clocks in the world that's been allowed to be installed on the exterior of a building, outside of Switzerland.
If you watch it closely, you'll see that the second hand stays still for two seconds when it hits the 12! This is a unique feature to Mondaine clocks, because trains in Switzerland rail network leave stations within those two seconds. And it also glows in the dark!!
It is wonderful to have a working town clock in Toronto once more. Thank you Kaylene for all of your efforts to get us one.
I'm pictured with Kaylene Fitzpatrick from Kadia Jewellery and Phil Edwards from Mondaine Australia.
