Australia Day 2024

A wonderful privilege to be able to join the Premier, Governor, Federal and State colleagues along with a huge crowd at Barangaroo this Australia Day morning.

I respect the differing views on Australia Day, what it means to different people and of course when it should be celebrated. I ask that everyone at least try to understand the position and feelings of others as they join the discussion.

Personally, I’m proud to be an Australian every day. I see people showing their patriotism, not by waving flags on one day (though that’s okay too) but by being involved with community and helping others, giving a hand up to one, to many.

I have to commend the performers this morning but need to give a special mention to Tamworth Country Music Festival 2023 Toyota Star Maker Winner, Loren Ryan who performed a song she wrote called Yilalu. It was amazing. She’s also recently released a cover of Flame Trees which I heard recently. Wonderful talent and it was a pleasure to meet her.
