Lead mitigation grants

The NSW Government is funding a Lead Mitigation Grant Program to assist eligible Lake Macquarie owners and tenants who have been impacted by lead contamination.

Do you own a property or live in Boolaroo, Speers Point, Macquarie Hills or Argenton?

The NSW Government, through the EPA is funding a Lead Mitigation Grant Program to assist eligible Lake Macquarie landowners and tenants who have been impacted by lead contamination from the former Pasminco Cockle Creek Smelter.

The program is being delivered by Lake Macquarie City Council and grants are available to assist with the costs of soil testing, remediation works and capping maintenance. The first round of grants opened on Monday 26 February and closes Monday 8 April.

Grants of up to $1,000 per financial year are also available for raised garden beds, soil/compost and a liner. These grants are open all year round until June 2026.
