$50,000 NSW Government grant helping MHERV save lives
14th March 2025
Each year 41,000 Australian men die from preventable conditions.
75% of those deaths are due to heart conditions.
The Men's Health Education Rural Van (MHERV) is saving lives throughout country and rural NSW.
NSW Health Minister Ryan Park MP and I met Rotary Club of Warners Bay members for a virtual tour of the customised van, which provides free health checks for issues that are often overlooked, including blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol readings.
Since 2017, 20,509 people have been tested by MHERV with 8,100 found to be in need of treatment and 615 found to be in immediate danger of a stroke or heart attack.
This is a wonderful service, and I welcome news of a $50,000 NSW Government grant to fund the van's 2025 operational costs.
