Eat Up Lunches

Food insecurity is a real problem in our region, with 1 in 4 school children going to school without lunch.
I recently met with the local team behind Eat Up Australia's "Eat Up Lunches", made up of members from Lions Club of Toronto, Lions Club of Morisset Incorporated, Lions Club East Maitland Warners Bay Lions Club, Cessnock Lions Club, Maitland Lions Club, Jesmond Lions Club and Rotary Club Newcastle Enterprise.
In just a couple of hours these amazing volunteers whipped up, wrapped and packed 1,860 sandwiches ready to be delivered to local 34 schools.
It's a feat they accomplish 12 times per year, and I thank them for the wonderful work they do to help keep our school kids fed.
