Start dates needed for major road upgrades at Morisset and Speers Point

In March I submitted two Written Questions on Notice to the Minister for Roads and Minister for Regional Transport, with a 35 day time period to respond.

Lake Macquarie residents have suffered long enough and it was important to seek a timeline for the commencement of works.

The Minister has now provided responses.

When is construction on the Mandalong Road upgrade at Morisset expected to commence?

Construction is expected to start in 2026. Transport for NSW will continue to work with council and consult with key stakeholders and keep the community informed as the project progresses.

When is construction on the Speers Point transport network upgrade expected to commence?

Timing for construction of the Speers Point transport network upgrade is not yet confirmed and is dependent on planning approvals. Work to refine the traffic modelling and design is ongoing, with a business case expected to be completed mid-2025.

While I acknowledge these answers may be incredibly frustrating, I asked the Minister directly, as commuters have been asking this question for many years and they want a timeframe.

This process has been painfully long for motorists and the sooner these projects can progress for the community, the better.
