Action needed at the Morisset Hospital site
13th October 2025
The ongoing disappointment over the loss of Myuna Bay Sport and Recreation Centre is still being felt across the community.
While I have had many promising meetings with relevant Ministers and Departments, I hold serious concern regarding the lack of action to progress the delivery of the replacement facility on Morisset Hospital grounds.
Morisset Hospital is not only the future home of the sports facility, it's also a valuable and historically important local landmark.
NSW Health have no master plan for the future protection and stewardship of the site and, without it, the outdated infrastructure will fall into disrepair. Enabling works will then be left to the Office of Sport to prepare the site.
The decision of the previous Government to close Myuna Bay was devastating for the local and broader community, which was why I was pleased the Premier, Chris Minns, and Ministers for Health and Sport said there would be no delays in getting this project off the ground 18 months ago.
Since then, there has been very little action, minimal budget allocated, delays with land transfers and no plans provided for the project.
Lake Macquarie and our historic Morisset Hospital deserve better from this Government.
We deserve a plan, we deserve progress and we deserve results.
I will continue to pursue this matter for our community.
