Young Leaders visit Australia's oldest Parliament

The halls of NSW Parliament have been buzzing with some very special visitors over the past month, local primary school leaders Bonnells Bay Public School, Wangi Wangi Public School and Arcadia Vale Public School.

o say I was inspired by their enthusiasm, curiosity and excitement is an understatement. Their thoughtful questions and genuine interest in learning about how our democracy works were a credit to them and their schools.

While many primary school students have the opportunity to visit Parliament House in Canberra, far fewer get to experience NSW Parliament here in Sydney – Australia’s oldest Parliament.

For many years, I’ve welcomed secondary school leaders to Parliament, including students from St Paul's Catholic College, Booragul, who also visited this month.

This year, I decided to extend those invitations to more primary school leaders, giving them the chance to see our state’s democracy in action firsthand.

Lake Macquarie is home to some incredible young people, and it was a pleasure to host these future leaders. I hope they enjoyed their visit as much as I enjoyed welcoming them
