Work to start on Munibung Road's 'missing link'

In a win for people who travel between Cardiff and Boolaroo, the missing link in Munibung Road will be built with funding announced by the Federal Government.

The Government has kicked in more than $2.2m which will allow Lake Macquarie council to start construction.

Currently, if someone at the western end of Munibung Road at Cardiff wants to drive to Speers Point, it’s an 11-minute trip. The same trip will take only one minute when the missing link is built and traffic can drive straight through to the new roundabout at Boolaroo.

While this link will ease congestion on Lake Road at Argenton, and take some pressure off The Esplanade at Speers Point, there remains a great need to widen Lake Road to four lanes, and I'll be continuing to lobby the State Government on that front.
