An update on the emerging weather pattern from NSW SES Lake Macquarie Unit:

Good Morning Lake Macquarie.
The forecasted rain for our region today is 40 to 60mm, and the heaviest falls for today are expected late this evening and overnight. This is to be followed by a few days of heavy rain with Monday expected to get the heaviest falls.
This system is very dynamic, the forecast is constantly changing every few hours so these totals will no doubt be very different.
At this stage, the forecast shows the heaviest rainfall impacting Sydney and the south coast.
There is the possibility of an East Coast Low forming late Sunday and hanging around until Tuesday so if that happens the forecast will change again and we may be adding strong winds into the mix.
As you can tell, there's a lot of uncertainty. We're preparing for the maximum rainfall forecast and our volunteers are preparing our trucks and are busy getting sandbags ready. Unfortunately we can't be much more accurate because it is changing so much.
If you live in an area prone to flash flooding prepare for that possibility. If you have stock or equipment in low-lying areas subject to flooding consider moving them to higher ground just in case.
If you require SES assistance due to flooding or storm damage call 132500.
For life-threatening emergencies call 000 immediately.
