¿ 3.30pm IMPORTANT WEATHER AND FLOOD UPDATE
¿ HELP: If you require assistance, please call the SES on 132 500, or follow NSW SES Lake Macquarie Unit or NSW SES Cooranbong Unit on Facebook.
¿ ROAD CLOSURES: A number of roads around the district are closed or impacted by flood water. Lake Macquarie City Council has a list HERE.
¿ WEATHER: I joined the Minister for Emergency Services and response team leaders online today. The current weather system is slowly moving north and the heavy rain we're seeing is expected to ease into this evening.
¿ HIGH TIDE: A high tide is expected in the lake around midnight tonight and that will likely impact some low-lying areas around the lake. Please take precautions now if you live in those areas.
¿ SANDBAGS: Sandbags are available at the SES headquarters for those who need them. That unit is on the corner of Fourth Street and Creek Reserve Road, Boolaroo (next to the Lake Macquarie City Council Works Depot). If you require sandbags but are unable to get to the unit please call 132 500 and put in a request so that some can be delivered to you.
¿ NATURAL DISASTER: I have spoken to the Government about our LGA being included on the list of council areas eligible for natural disaster financial assistance. I'm hopeful that will happen in the next few days.
¿ THANKS! Finally, we need to send a big shout-out to all our SES volunteers, council crews and emergency services workers who are out there assisting local people in the middle of this deluge. Thank you!!
