Members of The Hunter Mountain Bike Association have, once again, ridden the path to success when they represented the Hunter region at the recent Cannonball MTB Festival in Thredbo. Over five days, riders competed in five thrilling events: All Mountain Enduro, Flow, Dual Slalom, Pump Track, and the Cannonball Downhill track. By all accounts, it was a week filled with intense competition and incredible sportsmanship. HMBA Pro Legend, Jack Moir, returned with two silver medals for All Mountain and Flow Trails, while Taj Thornton was named the 2024 15s club champion after bagging an impressive number of podium finishes.

Other noteworthy performances include Harper Nelmes and Oscar Berry in the 17s category, Gary Jones in the 30 plus Men's category, and Samantha Cole in the 30 plus women's category. I also acknowledge the contributions of Tim Butler, Will Ireland, Nicholas Viche, and Ben Bullen-Aslin throughout the festival. These riders and their accomplishments are a testament to the spirit, talent, and determination that define HMBA and the Lake Macquarie region. Congratulations to all HMBA members, your dedication to your sport is truly inspiring. Keep riding and making us proud!
