South Lake Macquarie gets funding to support in home rehab services.
I was pleased to join Minister for Health Ryan Park MP , Lake Macquarie Mayor Adam Shultz, LMCC CEO David Hughes and General Manager Integrated Care, Networks and Partnerships - Hunter New England Local Health District, Louise Lazic, to announce the $350,000 investment to expand Rehab In The Home services across southern Lake Macquarie.
The service helps patients receive rehab care back in their own homes, cutting down the reliance on hospitals in our region.
I called for this investment and advocated on behalf of the community to the Minister before the last budget and I'm pleased the funding has been provided.
As one of the fastest-growing areas in the region, southern Lake Macquarie continues to see increasing demand for local health services. The expansion builds on the successful rollout of nurse practitioner-led wound care, continence and aged care outreach clinics at the Morisset Multi Purpose Centre in early 2025, which have experienced increasing demand.
South Lake Macquarie still needs a permanent primary health presence, and I continue to push for a Health One facility for the region
