Lake Macquarie's Lisa Greissl is known for making a splash both in and out of the water and she's now made her mark on the international stage, securing a podium finish at the 2025 World Rowing Championships in Shanghai. Lisa and her rowing partner, Sam Stunell powered home to claim third place and the bronze medal in the PR3 Mixed Double Sculls, finishing in an impressive 7 minutes and 6 seconds, mere moments behind Germany and Ukraine. The event marked Lisa's first appearance at a World Championships, a significant milestone in her distinguished rowing career.
Incredibly, Lisa only began rowing five years ago, after being diagnosed with cancer. In that time, she's become a seasoned para-rower and a multiple time Australian Champion, winning Gold in the PR3 Mixed Double Sculls in 2023, Silver in the PR3 Women's Single Scull, and further podium finishes in 2024 and 2025. Beyond the water, Lisa's work as the founder of The Big Hug Box has had a profound impact on those undergoing cancer treatment. Congratulations Lisa on your outstanding international success and thank you for representing Lake Macquarie with passion and integrity.
