HERE WE GO (finally)
What is happening?
Start of construction work includes:
• Establishing the site compound at 67 Seventh Street, on the corner of T C Frith Avenue, for the storage of plant, equipment and portable amenities
• Mobilising the site, which includes bringing equipment and materials to the site to begin work
• Carrying out investigations, including surveying and utility location.
Initially, crews will be working on T C Frith Avenue between the roundabout and First Street during the day from Monday 31 August. Working hours are 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday and, at times if required, 8am to 6pm Saturday.
After set up of the site compound and mobilising the site, crews will also need to carry out work during the night to minimise the impact to motorists during peak periods. Night work hours will be 6pm to 6am Sunday to Friday and will be communicated in advance.
You may notice:
• Workers and vehicles
• Traffic controllers and signage
• Changed traffic conditions, including shoulder closures
• Changed parking arrangements. Informal parking on the northbound verge of T C Frith Avenue between Seventh and Fourth streets will not be available
• A reduced speed limit of 40km/h at times
• Intermittent traffic stoppages
• Noise from machinery and equipment.
There will be disruptions during construction, with the project expected to take 12 months to complete. Please keep to the speed limit and follow the directions of traffic controllers and signs. Thank you for your patience during this important work.
