I congratulate Morisset High School on receiving the Community Event of the Year Award at the 2026 Lake Mac Awards for its outstanding 60th Anniversary Celebrations. This was a truly impressive community event that brought people together to celebrate the school's proud history and its important role in the western Lake Macquarie community. Over four days, more than 600 people attended tours, performances and community activities that showcased student talent, alumni achievements and the strength of public education.
The celebrations concluded with a free community festival attended by more than 500 people, featuring music, performances, historical displays and activities involving local schools and community groups. It was a wonderful way to recognise six decades of education, opportunity and community spirit. I had the pleasure of attending the celebrations and seeing firsthand the pride and connection so many people have with the school. Under the leadership of Principal Darren Brailey, Morisset High School continues to be a welcoming, inclusive and trusted hub for the community. Congratulations to the staff, students, alumni and volunteers who made this milestone celebration such a success.
